What Do I Do Next? (What to do next after you've become a Christian)

    Becoming a Christian is so exciting. If you have recently become a Christian, then congrats! I'm so happy for you and this is a journey that will change your life forever. You may be wondering what do I do next? You've given your life to God but now you are unsure what else you should do which is ok. If so, then I'm really glad that you decided to check out this post. My hope is that you will follow my advice in this post and that you will truly get to know God better. However, you aren't going to be able to know everything about God. I know that I don't know every single thing about God. In fact, I'm still learning things about God all the time, even though I've been a Christan for years. So don't worry. I will be sharing ways to get to know God better and grow in your faith. Let's dive in. 

        The first thing that I would do is start reading your Bible. The Bible is where you will find the wisdom and guidance you need. I recommend starting with the New Testament first. 1 Timothy is a great one to read. I also suggest that you start with Luke because it is an account of Jesus's life on earth and his death and resurrection.  

        I would also recommend finding a church that you can go to. Be careful when you choose a church because some churches are not doing what God wants. You will want a church that is glorifying God and teaches what scripture says. Don't be afraid of asking the pastor questions you have about being a Christian. 

        Going to a small group or youth group is also a good idea. You can get some great wisdom from good leaders and it's always great to be surrounded by other Christians. Don't be afraid to ask the leaders questions you have about God. 

        Tell other people that you have been saved. Celebrate that you have given your life to Christ. If other people aren't happy about that then don't worry. I know that it can be tough to tell other people that you are a Christian, but I love to try to bring others the joy that I have from being saved. 

        Reading devotionals is also a great thing to do no matter if you just became a Christian or if you have been a Christian for a while. Devotionals can really help you understand what you are reading in the Bible, and they can help you live out what the Bible says. 

Get Baptized. Being baptized is your public declaration that you aren't living for the world anymore. You're living for Jesus! In the Bible it says to be baptized. While you don't have to be baptized in order to go to heaven, you should want to be baptized because that's what God wants. 

        I'm so glad that you have decided to be a Christian. But just deciding to be a Christian isn't all there is to it. It's important to live like God wants you to and to do what God says. It's important to have a relationship with God. Following God isn't just doing what he says though. You should want to do what he says because you love him, and you know that he wants you to be with him for all of eternity. So, go ahead and experience the joy that comes from knowing the creator of the world.
